Flat Shoes? No, I Prefer High Heels

I don’t like flat shoes no matter how cute they look. Though I still enjoy looking other girls wear their flat shoes in the afternoon and hang out with their friends, I never think of buying a pair for my own. I have two reasons for this. First, for me flat shoes are too girly. Most of flat shoes have bright colors or funky patterns I suppose. Even if they come in quite formal style, they always seem informal to me. Well, you don’t suppose to wear flat shoes with a gown on a party right? The second reason why I don’t like flat shoes is because I’m short. I want kind of shoes which help me gain few more inches and that will never be fulfilled by flat shoes. So, I think flat shoes will be suitable for taller girls and short girls like me (how many times do I need to rewrite that? LoL) can use the high heels instead.
That’s why I never looked into the flat shoes section every time I went into a store. I know that section wasn’t made for me. I will straightly go to the high heels section no matter what. I will never pay attention to any shoes without heels whatsoever. I only have a pair of flat strappy sandals in my drawer for daily use such as shopping for groceries or any kind of places where I can use short and shirt LoL. But when I use jeans or skirts or dresses, I will definitely go with the high heels.
My favorite style of all time is simple strappy style and I love to play with colors too. I don’t like too many accessories on my shoes such as a big bow or synthetic flowers on it. The straps or colors can make the statement for the shoes; too many accessories will ruin everything. Like this beauty on the left I saw on Bloomingdale site. Very tempting! That’s okay if I don’t feel good with the flat shoes above; I still can be friends with those tempting high heels.

ANTM Skinny Waist Campaign

I regularly watch “The Next Top Model” stuff recently LoL from the American Next Top Model (ANTM), Canadian Next Top Model and Britain Next Top Model. What? Oh no, don’t get me wrong, I’m not a model myself. I just enjoy watching the drama between the ten young-beautiful model wannabe-girls who live in the same house for ten weeks. They said models can be so cruel, well at least the drama they have showed me a bit of this cruelness I think. Lol
Anyway, recently I read about the “Skinny Waist Campaign” scandal on American Next Top Model (ANTM) reality show which hosted by supermodel Tyra Bank. On the show, Tyra apprise a 19y teenager who has a very skinny waist that a pair of adult hands can easily fitted all around it. Can you imagine that?
I can’t even hold my 3y daughter’s waist with my both arms anymore right now, so how can a 19y old teenager can? This is really sick. There are some pros and contras opinions. Some said that ANTM should do something about Tyra’s statement concerning the girl’s too skinny waist. Thousand of young girls out there are big fans of this reality show. This bad campaign somehow can affect their point of view about what kind of waist that a supermodel (like Tyra) would love to see. Anorexia is the worst thing that could be happen to these young girls.
On the other hand, actually some said that some of these girls are naturally skinny no matter how often they eat and they are in a very healthy condition. No one should judge a skinny girl for having anorexia while the truth is she is naturally skinny. That’s not fair. I agree to that. But still we have a normal measurement about how a 19y young girl’s waist line should look, right? If there is an anomaly like this ANTM contestant has, I think a medical action should have been taken.
But the moral side of this scandal is how ANTM should consider how their audiences will act about their statement. Young girls who really wished that they can be a model will listen to Tyra Bank’s statements and suggestions about how to be a good model. So I think she must be aware of the impact of her appraisal over that teeny tiny skinny waist girl. Though Tyra has released a statement to clarify this situation:

"As a leader in celebrating and promoting healthy body image, I must admit that I regrettably didn't see this clip before it was released to the public," she said in a statement to People magazine. "But on behalf of the Top Model team, these were not the intentions, and we truly apologise for any confusion, anger or disappointment it may have caused."

.....but still it’s not something that you can just simply take back, dear. Once it was pronounced, people will always remember. In my opinion, it’s okay to be a model, as long as you keep your healthiness on top of your priority. A healthy body will make you look more beautiful than ever, isn't that right girls?

Beautiful Women From Time To Time

They said women will sacrifice everything to look and feel beautiful. For example, though some of us (including me) consider stiletto shoes as a must have item, other people think that those sexy shoes are made to torture women and hurt their feet however women still love stiletto. In modern age right now, many women willing to stand the pain of plastic surgery on their bodies just to get what they thought will make them look more beautiful and attractive. Then how about the old time women when stiletto and plastic surgery are not exist yet? Women in the old days have their own perspective about beauty. Today, we may find all this stuff as weird ways to look beautiful. But as I said before, they have their own perspectives about how a beautiful woman should be.

First, we have Foot Binding.

This is a well known tradition in China around 618-1911. In this case, the smaller your feet the better you look. Beautiful women’s feet at that time has only 10-15 cm! How can adult women have such small size of feet like that? The secret is by wrapping the feet so tightly using a ten feet long fabric everyday since they were very young. They usually start to do this on 4-5 years old little girls. The four fingers will be bended towards the sole of foot and the big toe will be bended toward the heel. The wrapper will get tighter and tighter each day to prevent the feet from growing in normal way and this is definitely a tortured way to look beautiful.

Second, we have Corsets.

Despite the tortured and the shortness of breath effect, women still love wearing corsets because it can make your belly look flat and gives you incredibly small waisted. This tradition comes from Europe noble ladies in the middle age. Though corset is still available and still lovable until today, but modern corsets are quite different from the old time one.

Third, we have Sharpening Teeth.

This painful tradition is found in South Asian tribes for many years. Beautiful ladies will sharpening their teeth in particular way using stick and some woods. Imagine the pain that these women should endure. This process can not be done within a day or two. It takes a long time to make your entire teeth sharp like that. So you better get ready for the pain.

Look Fabulous With Stockings

Many women maybe still confuse about the difference about stockings and thighs just like me. I try to find out more about this from other websites and they provide me different kind of answers. Some of them said that stocking is elastic garment which covers foot and lower part of the leg but not intended to conceal the leg completely. Then some other said that stocking is a leg covering garment which held up with the use of suspenders or garters. About the thighs, some say that thigh is close fitting garment that can be used from your feet to waist just like pant while stocking is about the length of knee high only.
So, before starting to write my opinion, I’m going to use the general meaning of stocking itself here. In my opinion, stocking is a kind of sheer leg covering which can be whether about the length of knee high or fully cover your leg up to your waist. That’s all.

Almost every stocking is made from a tight knit sheer but thin garment and can be easily damage. This kind of stocking will look almost naturally blended with your skin especially when you use the nude color and usually used for daily purposed or formal occasion.
There are also fishnet stockings which made from a wide knit garment just like a net. The variation is on type of the net it self such as diamond, rectangle or circle. These attractive stockings are usually used for fashion show purpose on runway. But some may also use it to attend party or night club.
The other one is fun and festive kind of stockings. This usually used only for fashion event because they look more festive than the other. You may find this stocking decorated with many colorful ribbons or other festive patterns such as stripped or polka dots, absolutely not a kind that you’ll choose for work or attending cocktail party.
Since stockings are “vulnerable” you need to give extra care to maintain their good condition. Use warm water and mild soap to soak your stockings then leave it for about 30 minutes. Then rinse with water until completely clean. After that spread the wet stocking on a towel and press together then hang it until fully dry.
You need to replace your stocking after using it five times since your stocking may already loss their elasticity and not comfortable enough to use again.

I noticed that almost every exclusive brand boutique chooses a different way to run their store. Instead of letting everyone come in and look at their items directly, they choose to keep their store as private as they can. In some particular stores, no one can even enter without showing member card to the store keeper first. Due to this regulation, they will shut and lock the store’s door and open it only for those with the member card. But some said that the door may also be open for those who don’t have member cards as long as they have appropriate appearance for it. The store keepers will appraise you first subjectively from your outward appearance before decide whether to let you in or not. You see that exclusive boutiques usually sell expensive things inside such as a $20000 hand bag or $8000 scarf and stuff like. The conclusion is that there’s no way you are going to use a $50 dress when you want to buy those fancy stuff in a fancy boutique right? You must look as wealthy as you can before they allow you to come inside and look around. That way they can be convinced that you are going to buy at least one item and not just looking around for nothing. That means you can touch this and touch that as long as you buy something in the end. That’s the big deal.
Whew! Services really come with prices huh? Maybe this is a kind of marketing plan that tends to make the wealthy shoppers feel special and gain prestige at the same time. In the other hand, this will also intimidate those medium shoppers who wish to enter for window shopping only. No walking around, no touch this or that, no try this or that, forget everything if you’re not going to buy anything! For that intention, we can still visit department stores or other retailers instead (lol)

Collecting Shoes

The first section I visited every time I went to a department store or boutique is the shoe section. God those shoes are adorable! From a simple black pump shoes to a colorful peep toe shoes. I love everything except for the boots. I don’t like boots and never wear it before. I love cute design of shoes like high heels, strappy shoes or stiletto.That's why I made the tittle of this post as C for collecting shoes.

My first reason of choosing particular shoes is the color. My only black shoes were the last one I bought when I still work 4 years ago. There rests of them are in colors.
Yes! I love colored shoes such as red or silver. Of course if you wear this kind of shoes you must avoid using a colorful outfit at the same time. You don’t want to look like a Christmas tree with all those colors and festive accessories (lol). Just pick one item that you want to be the vocal point and use a dark color or at least softer color for the rests of them. But if you asked me which one will I choose for my vocal point it would be my shoes (lol).

I almost forget to tell you that this is my entry for ABC Wednesday. Happy Wednesday people…

Beautiful Brocade

B for Brocade. What is brocade? Brocade is a rich woven fabric with interwoven design of raised figure or flower spreading all over it. Usually the raised figure or flower will look contrast compare to the fabric surfaces. These embosses pattern is the “heart” of brocade itself.

History told that there’s only certain kind of people who may wear this kind of fabrics a long time ago. Only the wealthiest or powerful people (due to its expensiveness and exclusiveness) who afford to buy brocade. I used to see many patterns of brocade on flowered couches inside the old time French manor pictures. Or from an old French style movie on tv. The casts use brocade gowns almost in every scene. I found this fabric so beautiful and elegant. I really want to have a dress made from brocade one day.

Nowadays, brocade can be easily found everywhere. You can find a beautiful dress or pouch or even shoes made from brocade. Never get bored of this one.

About Fake Eyelashes

Applying these lashes is not an easy job to do, people. That’s why most women avoid using fake eyelashes since they require more time to apply on. Well, I can understand why. On Sunday almost every store offers you some kind of SALE on certain products. I guess maybe they realize that most shoppers also have a free day during Sunday.

Anyway, watch out for your wallet, ladies. Sale can take all your money away. Choose only the best product you want and make your limit. Leave some of your credit cards at home, if you need to. You don't want to wake up tomorrow morning with a headache seeing how much money you've spent already just for a single Sunday shopping, right?

Red Carpet's Disaster

Red carpet moment is the perfect time for artists to show their outfits up. I also think that this moment has also become the most favorable moment of all. People love to watch those glamour people passing by and wearing gorgeous outfit from famous designers. Usually, you can find most of that outfit style in a relatively cheaper price in the market the next day. So, we may say that Red Carpet moment is also used as a pattern to predict the next trend in fashion world.

In fact, you can find almost every kind of fashion styles here. Not only the gorgeous ones; you also can find the disaster ones. Just like some outfits below.

Cher with her outrageous dress came up to receive her Best Actress award in 1988. This outfit was so vulgar at that time. She looked like a cabaret dancer with that “see through” lace gown.

Celine Dion on Academy Award 1999 wore a white backward tuxedo from John Galliano. She was also considered to be the worst dressed celebrity on that ceremony.

Bjork came up with a dead swan dress on Academy Award 2001. That poor swan’s neck laid helpless in her right shoulder. This outfit really reminds of a kindergarten’s costume on a fable story.

I read a lot about this area in fashion magazine. It seems like NoLIta has familiar enough among the shopper around the globe.

Michael Kors

If you are a fan of “Project Runway” show (as I do), then you must be familiar with this handsome man. He has blue eyes, blonde hair and a baritone voice.

Michael Kors is not a kind of jury who can easily gives his appreciation to the designers in this competition. As a matter of fact, he even ridicules almost every designer there (at least once) and sarcastically mocks their designs. But, as the compensation, he always salutes every design that he found perfect and gorgeous. Fair enough, I think (lol)

Michael Kors was born in Merric, New York. He started to sell his first design (a hand painting leather vest) to his neighbors by the time he was 9 years old. There was a time when he studied at the Fashion Institute for Technology for one semester before he made a decision to quit and start to run his own business instead.

Then he made his own fashion line using his own name as the label (Michael Kors LLC) and able to run his first fashion show in the next two years. The fashion workers love his simple yet fabulous style of his collections. After that, he widened his business line and creates a special label for man clothing, shoes, sunglasses, perfume and handbags.

On 1997 he was asked to work with Louis Vuitton on Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH) as a designer for Celine label. His first fashion show was successfully done on Autum/Winter 1998 in Paris. As an appreciation, LVMH helped him to develop his own fashion line.

Long-Lasting Lipstick

How many hours do you have before your lipstick finally faded? One hour or two hours maybe? I’m sure that every one of you want your lipstick to last all day long, right? Of course you can easily find various kinds of ad out there which claimed their products to be the best among all since it can last for more that 8 hours. But you need to know that that kind of lipstick is usually make your lips dry and irritable.

It’s because it contains certain kind of chemical to keep the lipstick lasts longer. They’re more expensive compare to the usual lipstick also.

As a matter of fact, you can still keep your lipstick lasts longer if you only know the tricks. Before you apply the lipstick, first you need to apply the skin foundation gently onto your lips.

Make sure it covers your lips surfaces perfectly. After that use a lip pencil to draw a thin line along your outer part of lips or your lip line, but make sure you choose the color that will suit your lipstick color, girls.

The next step is to apply the lipstick itself. The best way to do this is with a lipstick brush since it will give you a better result. It’s not wrong at all to apply the lipstick directly without lipstick brush actually but make sure you apply the lipstick carefully so that it won’t break the lip line you’ve just drawed before. When the lipstick fully covered the lip surfaces, take a sheet of tissue and press gently onto your lips.

Then, you need to apply loose powder around the outer part on your lip line using a powder brush, remember to apply it gently since it can ruin your lipstick or lip liner. Then apply the lipstick one more time as the final touch. Sometimes I replace this part with lip gloss only, since I love glossy look better than the matte one.

But it’s all up to you. If you want the glossy lips then you can use the lip gloss as the final touch. But if you want the matte look, apply the lipstick one more time to make it lasts longer.

And the most important thing of all is: Don’t forget to put a smile on your lips. It’s the best way to color your lips better than any kind of lipstick, girls…
